Position Available: Heavy Equipment Shop and Truck Mechanic
R-2 Contractors is currently seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Shop and Truck Mechanic to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our continued success with a company that values integrity and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of skilled duties which may involve inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
- Complete tasks given by Shop Manager in a timely fashion and ask for help as needed.
- Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks (up to 1 1/2”).
- Responsible for cleaning and organizing the shop.
- Must be able to operate heavy equipment.
- Clean and organize work/shop/yard area as needed to maintain a safe working environment.
- Complete all required documentation: timesheets, checklists, repair orders, etc.
- Assist with getting company vehicles to and from locations as needed.
- Complete DOT inspections.
- Use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) – grinding, cutting, sanding, welding, using compressed air, etc.
- Loading and unloading trucks with use of forklift.
Qualifications:
- Physical requirements: Lifting up to 100 pounds as needed, climbing, twisting, bending, standing for long periods of time.
- Minimum 3 years heavy equipment/heavy truck experience.
- Experience in safely using hand and power tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices.
- Forklift Certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record preferred, or the ability to work with the company to obtain one.
- DOT medical card required and ability to maintain.
- Mechanical Experience Required.
Job Type:
- Full-time
- Expected Hours: 50+ per week, including weekends as needed.
- Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour
