Vendor & Procurement Coordinator – Power Infrastructure and Renewables
Location: Prineville, OR (Hybrid) – Strong preference for candidates in Central Oregon; fully remote candidates considered with willingness to travel
Company: R-2 Contractors
Compensation: $60,000–$90,000 annually + benefits

Who We Are
We build the infrastructure that powers modern energy – R-2 Contractors works exclusively on power projects including, but not limited to substations, transmission, distribution, and generation. Our capabilities include grading, excavation, foundations, trenching, conduit, and grounding.

Our culture is simple and non-negotiable: Pride. Grit. Own it!
  • Pride – You care about the quality of your work and the relationships you build. You don’t cut corners, and you represent the company well with vendors and teammates.
  • Grit – You don’t stop at “we couldn’t find pricing.” You keep digging, making calls, and finding solutions when others would give up.
  • Own It! – You take responsibility for your work. If something gets missed, you fix it. If there’s a gap, you fill it. No passing the buck.

If you are looking for a role with limited responsibility and constant instruction, this will not be the right fit.

If you like taking initiative, staying connected to the work, and being someone the team can depend on, keep reading.

The Role
We’re hiring a Procurement Specialist – Preconstruction who can support estimating and operations by building real vendor coverage, securing competitive pricing, and helping set projects up for success before they ever break ground.

This role goes beyond the desk. You’ll be expected to pick up the phone, dig into the market, and at times get out in the field to find and build relationships with suppliers that others can’t.

This position plays a critical role in our preconstruction process:
  • You’ll be responsible to work directly with estimating and operations for sourcing accurate and competitive vendor pricing, identifying gaps in vendor coverage, and helping drive procurement strategy from bid through project startup.
  • Not every supplier is easily found online, we expect this position to actively build relationships with vendors requiring occasional travel to new and potential project areas.
You’ll succeed here if you:
  • Stay ahead of problems instead of reacting to them
  • Ask questions early and often
  • Take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks

If you’re someone who takes ownership, follows through, and doesn’t wait for direction to solve problems, you’ll do well here.

What You’ll Do
  • Source and procure materials, equipment, and services
  • Coordinate with estimating and operations (both remote and on-site)
  • Identify supply risks and solve them before they could impact the job
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing suppliers
  • Travel to new and prospective project areas to support vendor needs
  • Look for ways to improve how we buy, track, and communicate

What We’re Looking For
Core Traits (Non-Negotiable):
  • Ownership mindset – you follow things through and don’t drop the ball
  • Initiative – you don’t wait to be told what to do
  • Curiosity – you want to understand how things work and will research on your own
  • Strong communication – you can work with field and office without friction
  • Willingness to travel – you’re comfortable being on the road as needed
Experience:
  • 1–3+ years in construction, procurement, or similar
  • Civil, utility, or power industry experience is a strong plus
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities at once

We’re not looking for someone to just fill a role—we’re looking for someone who wants to build something and be a key part of how we win work and execute projects.

What Sets You Apart
  • You’ve improved a process or fixed something that wasn’t working
  • You’ve taken the time to learn something outside your job scope
  • You’re the person people rely on when something needs to get handled

Why Join Us
  • Work on meaningful infrastructure in the energy sector
  • Be part of a team that values initiative and accountability
  • Get exposure to both preconstruction and operations
  • Opportunity to take on more responsibility as you prove capability
  • Competitive pay and benefits

Compensation
$60,000-$90,000 annually, based on demonstrated ability and fit for the role. This range is intentionally broad. On the lower end, you may still be building industry knowledge, procurement instincts, and vendor relationships, but already bring the organization, follow-through, and communication needed to support the work well. On the higher end, you can work more independently, solve sourcing problems, strengthen buying decisions, and create immediate value for estimating and operations.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
