Position Available: Assistant Controller
R-2 Contractors is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a basic understanding of accounting and finance looking to grow their skills in a supportive environment. This role will also require basic people management skills, including working with team members, providing guidance, and fostering collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports under the supervision of senior finance staff.
- Help manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly closings, including reconciling bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering and organizing financial data.
- Prepare reports for management, including basic financial analysis and variance reporting.
- Assist with payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Help ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the preparation for audits and assist in gathering necessary documentation.
- Provide general support to the finance department as needed, including filing and organizing financial documents.
- Work closely with team members, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Provide guidance and support to junior finance staff when necessary.
- Assist in training and onboarding new team members in finance-related processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent coursework and experience.
- Some accounting or finance experience, including internships or coursework in accounting, is a plus but not required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Basic leadership and people management skills, including teamwork and mentoring abilities.
Job Type:
- Full-time
- Salary - $90,000 - $110,000 (dependent on experience)
- 40 – 50 hours per week, depending on project needs
- Paid Time Off (PTO) / Sick Leave
