Position Available: General Superintendent - Heavy & Civil/Solar Infrastructure/Power Projects

R-2 Contractors is looking for a dedicated and experienced Heavy Civil Underground General Superintendent to join our team. This exciting opportunity requires willingness to travel up to 100% as needed to and from different job sites out of state.

Responsibilities:

  • Make changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines
  • Train and on-board new key team members
  • Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking
  • Act as a liaison between project management and field leaders
  • Conduct job site evaluations
  • Uphold and hold others accountable to the Company Core Values
  • Provide team member coaching and guidance as needed
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed in the field
  • Collaboratively assign/schedule employees to projects
  • Source and procure specialty materials or equipment
  • Assess manpower and equipment needs from the field
  • Relay union agreements and limitations to field leaders
  • Step in and help get projects across the finish line
  • Manage material lists and project take-off
  • Support and collaborate with project management
  • Identify possible areas for savings – crew, equipment, execution, and materials
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, clients, and internal team members
  • Manage owner relations

Requirements:

  • Proven leadership experience in heavy civil underground construction
  • Skilled understanding of earthwork in all weather conditions
  • Experience operating 400-class excavators, D8 and larger dozers, rock trucks, etc.
  • Proven experience supervising and directing successful heavy civil construction projects
  • Previous experience in a Superintendent role-5 plus yrs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
  • Experience with or willingness to be trained on HCSS Software (HeavyJob, HeavyBid, Telematics)
  • Experience with or willingness to be trained on Microsoft Project
  • Strong leader, Self starter, team player, flexible, and willing to take on multiple duties as needed
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-driven
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and have a driving record acceptable to the company’s insurance carrier
  • Ability to work long hours and in varying conditions
  • Provide five professional references

Job Type:

  • Full-time
  • Salary: $200,000 - $250,000 DOE
