Position Available: General Superintendent – Vertical Drilling

R-2 Contractors is looking for a dedicated and experienced General Superintendent for Vertical Drilling to join our team. The ideal candidate will be willing to travel up to 100% as needed to job sites across various locations, including out of state.

Responsibilities:

  • Make operational adjustments to meet construction deadlines.

  • Implement cost-effective and efficient management techniques.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal construction regulations.

  • Strong organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking.

  • Act as a liaison between Project Managers and field leaders.

  • Conduct jobsite evaluations and ensure accountability to company values.

  • Provide coaching and guidance to team members as needed.

  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures in the field.

  • Assign and schedule employees to projects collaboratively.

  • Source and procure specialty materials or equipment.

  • Assess manpower and equipment needs from the field.

  • Communicate union agreements and limitations to field leaders.

  • Assist in driving projects to completion.

  • Manage material lists and project take-off.

  • Support and collaborate with project management.

  • Identify areas for potential savings (crew, equipment, materials).

  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, clients, and internal team members.

  • Manage owner relations.

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of vertical drilling operations, particularly in foundations.

  • Expertise in vertical drilling techniques, equipment (e.g., augers, rotary drills), and materials used in heavy/civil construction.

  • Skilled in earthworks in varying weather conditions.

  • Proven experience operating 400-class excavators, D8 and larger dozers, rock trucks, etc.

  • Proven track record of supervising/directing successful heavy civil construction projects.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).

  • Familiarity with HCSS Software (HeavyJob, HeavyBid, Telematics).

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project.

  • Strong team player, flexible, and willing to take on multiple roles as needed.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-driven.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet company insurance requirements.

  • Willing and able to work long hours and in varying conditions.

  • Provide professional references upon request.

Job Type:

  • Full-time, salaried position

  • Compensation: $175,000 - $220,000 per year (dependent on experience)
